Winter Solstice Art Walk, Spaceworks Highlights

This Thursday, December 21, will mark the shortest day of the year and the next day will bring increasingly more sunshine. But the night of third Thursday we invite you to visit these free artistic events. Some of them are family friendly and some of them are just for your adult friends. Enjoy all the creativity Tacoma has to offer at December’s Art Walk.

Closing Night of PRESENT / TENSE Exhibit

“Present / Tense” features paintings, sculptures, and drawings by Malayka Gormally & Tom Gormally. Spaceworks 950 Gallery is honored to bring this exhibit to Tacoma, and we invite you to join us for the final showing during extended hours on closing night. 2D and 3D art by Malayka Gormally and Tom Gormally.

Lettuce Presents “Live Art Still Life” at TAM

Feel the electricity of art as it is being made! Lettuce, an innovative live art event, features local artists as they create still lifes using various mediums, all inspired by Two Centuries of American Still-Life Painting: The Frank and Michelle Hevrdejs Collection. Experience the artists’ process and techniques, meet the creators, and enjoy a no host bar. Come curious, leave inspired.

Free Third Thursdays at Tacoma Art Museum

Tacoma Art Museum joins other local museums and galleries in staying open late and free to the public on the third Thursday of every month.

Enjoy all exhibitions on view, create a holiday card inspired by still life in TAM Studio, and enjoy sweet and savory treats from P&J’s Waffle Delight!

Don’t miss the final weeks of Two Centuries of American Still-Life Painting: The Frank and Michelle Hevrdejs Collection! On view at TAM through January 7, 2018.

Happy Hour in the TAM Cafe

4 –7 pm

Free museum admission begins at 5 pm. However, paid admission is not required to visit the TAM Cafe. Come early and relax in the TAM Cafe for happy hour discounts on beer, wine, and snacks.

F.O.A.M. for Teens – Gingerbread Architecture

6 –8 pm

Join TAM’s Teen Art Council for F.O.A.M., a free night of Film, Open mic, Art, or Making just for teens! Stop by the Tacoma Art Museum every third Thursday from 6 to 8 pm. This month, they will be exploring gingerbread architecture. Don’t stay at home, go to F.O.A.M.!
