SUMMARY:Internships For Your Small Business
DESCRIPTION:The Next Move Program believes that all students should have the opportunity to make informed choices about their future.  We also believe that personal experiences\, such as internships in a chosen career field and a meaningful relationship with a career mentor\, can have a lasting impact on a student’s personal and professional journey. \nThe Next Move Internship Program works with the local community to design meaningful positions for juniors and seniors in Tacoma Public Schools in order to provide each a preview of their professional future. By working alongside employees in a specific industry\, students are able to learn what skills and expertise is needed to be successful in their chosen career field. Internship experiences provide students the opportunity to make informed decisions about their future.  \nProspective interns begin by participating in Intro to Internship\, a preparatory course where they explore career pathways\, write resumes and cover letters\, and practice their interviewing\, networking\, and professional communication skills. After completing Intro to Internship\, students are invited to participate in a 90-hour\, unpaid internship experience in the community\, where they can continue to build their skills and explore their interests. Students typically intern 4-8 hours per week at their site and are supported throughout the entire experience by their Intern host and Next Move Coach. \nAre you wanting an intern but don’t know where to start? At this in-person workshop\, we’ll learn from Next Move on their program that pairs local high school students with businesses in the community.  \nSpace is limited\, please register here: https://forms.gle/gtCSsB3WoiPRg9z89
