KdBird

Kate Burki uses her experience as a career horticulturalist and garden designer to create naturally dyed accessories and home goods.

Kate Burki uses her experience as a career horticulturalist and garden designer to create naturally dyed accessories and home goods. After the birth of her daughter, Gracie, KdBird was created as a combination of Kate’s lifelong love of plants and the ancient craft of natural dying. Its mission is to “Provide the conscious consumer with naturally dyed and thoughtfully produced accessories and home-goods, in a process where materials, production and marketing are all equally considered for their ecological and ethical impact.” All products come in ecological and plastic-free packaging and the dyes themselves come from sustainably harvested agricultural byproducts, plant extracts, foraged materials and food waste. KdBird emphasizes sustainability in all aspects of the business and values product origin transparency, thoughtful craftsmanship, educational outreach and environmental and social equity.
