Rogue Friar

A self-taught bookbinder, Gary Waldron creates journals with care and craftsmanship as part of his spiritual practice. He cuts each cover with a knife from thick, soft cowhide leather or suede, leaving a raw-edge flap. Each volume is meticulously bound with stitched-in sheaves of textured handmade paper, and closes with a suede tie and a Celtic-design metal toggle. In smooth-grain or embossed leather, the journals are inviting to the eye and touch. He started Rogue Friar with the desire to support himself through the work of his hands and help the community. Purchase these journals at popular farmers markets in Tacoma and Puyallup, and downtown Tacoma store Revisioned – an urban boutique.
