Write@253 had an incredibly busy first year, bringing unique educational opportunities to a diverse range of children in our community.  Housed in a colorful space on 1310 MLK Way, they hosted letter press, poetry, fiction, hospice, financial aid, and other writing workshops, provided drop in after school homework tutoring throughout the school year, AND presented the 2012 summer writing camp.  Out in the community, they tutored Hilltop and Salishan students, led the First Creek Middle School student newspaper, and supported writing at the McCarver Elementary spring break camp.  It is important to mention that all of these programs were offered for free or had scholarships available and that no one is turned away because of money.

This summer will be just as busy with many opportunities for you to be involved as a student or volunteer.  Here is a peak at upcoming summer events:

Young Filmmakers Camp, Monday, July 29-Friday, Aug. 9 at Write@253 1310 MLK Way
