One stop along the Public Art Walk will include the old Woolworth Building’s storefront windows, which currently has on display 4 artist installations including this project by Ellen Hochberg titled “Educating Girls.”

The Walk Tacoma program will be honored on June 17 with a City of Tacoma proclamation. This proclamation recognizes the success of the Walk Tacoma program, and highlights the importance of a walkable city. This year, Walk Tacoma events have seen over 800 participants.

Another stop along the way will include the Tacoma Post Office Building, which will highlight the current artists, and artworks currently activating this historic building.  Also be sure not to miss the Tacoma Post Office Building ART WALK, this third Thursday, June 19, from 5-9pm… click here for details.

Walk Tacoma 2014, sponsored by Franciscan Health System, is an eight-event walking series held on first and third Wednesdays, from April through August. The fun, themed walks, now in their fifth year, encourage downtown employees and residents to exercise and enjoy the outdoors by discovering the different walking routes and parks in downtown Tacoma. The Walks are scheduled at the lunch hour and just after work to encourage downtown employees to walk during their workday, whether it is to and from work or at a lunch break.
