On April 7, 2017, University of Puget Sound recognized Spaceworks Tacoma with 2017 Distinguished Community Partner award. Thanks to Gwen Kohl’s exceptional leadership and inspiration Spaceworks has collaborated with UPS students in many ways, particularly in relation to entrepreneurship.

Gwen works as Spaceworks’ Creative Enterprise Program Coordinator and also as Program Manager of Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!), another program of the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber. Both programs have collaborated with the Entrepreneurship Club at Puget Sound and the entrepreneurship program at Annie Wright for International Women’s Entrepreneurship Day in November 2016.

Spaceworks was involved with a team of students in UPS class BUS380: An Entrepreneurial Mindset for the Arts class, taught by professor Lynette Claire, Ph. D. Gwen skillfully guided the students in their work to build a strong project related to building awareness of Spaceworks. She has also served as a judge for Innovate! Create!, a business ideation and pitch competition in 2017,  that included students from UPS.

Past recipients of the award include the Business Examiner, SURGE Tacoma, Russell Investments, and the UWT Institute of Technology. Spaceworks Tacoma hopes you join us in congratulating Gwen on her accomplishments and leadership.
