“My current project, “Celestial Soirée” is an acrylic art installation inspired by the influence of the planets on the psyche. The concept of the work is based not on the Roman deities that they may relate to, but rather on how each planet bears a different characteristic in terms of astrology, and what this means within the bigger picture. These works are heavily influenced by The Planets, a seven-movement orchestral suit composed by English composer, Gustav Holst (1874-1934). Holst regarded planetary influence as a metaphor for various aspects of human personality. I was heavily influenced by how the piece sought to portray psychological drama within aspects of human character through these seven planets. Throughout the development of these pieces, I created with the thought of how humans have personified and admired the planets.”
