As part of an organizational rebranding process, Spaceworks Tacoma has renamed its first coworking site 1120 Creative House to 1120 Downtown and added a second coworking site 1120 Hilltop.
Spaceworks first opened the doors of 1120 Creative House as a downtown artist studio and office coworking space in 2015, on the second floor of 1120 Pacific Avenue. The space has an open floor plan that was divided by constructing pallet walls and offers 12 studios and a 2,000 square foot common area used by artists, designers, photographers, and other creative individuals. 1120 Creative House has hosted many Third Thursday art walk events with open studios, art exhibits, Artscapes installations, live music, Tacoma Studio Tours and special events and, as 1120 Downtown, will continue doing the same in 2018.
To better serve creative needs of Tacoma entrepreneurs, Spaceworks expanded its Coworking program in late 2017 when it added a second location at 1120 S. 11th Street in the Hilltop Business District. Thanks to a partnership with Tacoma Housing Authority, Spaceworks is activating this once vacant building (formerly Key Bank) by offering five spaces to local artists, small businesses and nonprofits.
