Sara was born and raised in sunny Los Angeles and moved to Tacoma to attend the University of Puget Sound. She is now a rising senior at UPS, and studies Japanese Language & Culture, and Business Administration. Sara is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta women’s fraternity and also does costume design and dramaturgy for the school’s theater department. After graduating, Sara is hoping to get her Masters degree in marketing or arts administration.

Before connecting with Spaceworks, Sara was a marketing assistant at Tacoma Musical Playhouse, and was the social media coordinator for a Tacoma-based theater startup called empathos co. There, she wrote press releases, designed posters, and created marketing plans, all while engaging with the Tacoma community.

She found her Spaceworks internship through the Summer Immersion Internship Program at the University of Puget Sound, which provided 25 students with grants to support them during a summer internship. Spaceworks was one of the potential internship sites, and she knew it would be the perfect fit for her as it combined all her interests in the arts, community, and creative businesses.

This summer, Sara helped with volunteer management for NEON 2018, updating the Spaceworks website as well as its database. In her time with Spaceworks she has helped at the Incubator workshops, the 950 Gallery, Spaceworks Info Sessions, and awesome local events!

We’re thankful to Sara for her hard work and collaborative energy and wish her future successes in her academic and creative pursuits.
