Do you have an idea for a creative business that benefits Tacoma’s community but do not currently have the resources to rent a space and develop a full-fledged business? Then you should apply to Spaceworks’ Creative Enterprise program!
Creative Enterprises are innovative small businesses (for-profit or non-profit), or any project that opens its doors to the public. Galleries, museums, art performances, boutiques, and retail shops are all great examples of Creative Enterprises. Artists, designers, crafters, consultants, organizations, community groups and other fledgling entrepreneurs are given the chance to test new products and services in a no- or low-cost temporary space for up to six months. But it’s not just about space, this program provides relevant and meaningful professional development and peer-to-peer support to the participants to systematically grow Tacoma’s creative class and generate destination quality activity that will engage and transform our community.
The online application is easy…submit 6 images, a resume, a budget, and answer 9 questions that address these aspects of your project:
All applicants will be selected based on the following criteria.
◦ Quality of work as exhibited in the work sample
◦ Feasibility and ability to execute proposal
◦ Ability of the project to engage the community including passers-by
◦ Ingenuity and strength of concept/proposal
◦ Benefit to the community and appropriateness for the public realm
Accepted projects will likely get space in Fall/Winter 2013. Interested? You better hurry…the deadline to apply is Monday, June 10th at midnight!
